CASE STUDY: HR Foundations, Business & Strategy
Introduction:
The case study is based on the company “Google.” As you know, Google is theprimary subsidiary company of the American multinational Alphabet Inc., whose specialization is products and services related to the internet, software, electronic devices, and other technologies.
Many profiles decide to work at Google to develop personally and professionally, and the commitment that Google makes to attract all kinds of talent is well known.
For the development of this case, it is allowed to search for articles on the internet or references to other case studies that help to land the case and the company studied in more detail. The important thing is that you clarify which references you have used.
Case development and activities:
Due to the transformation processes and the economic-social environment we currently find ourselves in, you have been hired by Google as the Corporate Director of HR. You have relevant experiences that support your capabilities to occupy this position, and you have the challenge of reinventing the HR areaand reviewing and defining the new HR strategy.
In the next few weeks, you have a meeting with the CEO and shareholders in which you will have to present the following:
1. HR strategy of the company (Advice: Briefly introduce the current situation of the company and its business strategy and use the “Playing to Win” methodology to define your proposed HR strategy)
2. Define the HR area (Tip: Thinking about the different HR roles, detail which ones you need to successfully activate the strategy, andmake a first approximation in the number of people)
3. Prioritize the HR actions to work on (Tip: Remember that “Less is more,” so prioritize the areas and actions you want to carry out,considering some criteria: Difficulty in implementing the action, the impact of the initiative, etc.)
4. Define the next steps (Tips: Think about what you need to activate the strategy: HR team capabilities, HR technologies that can help you, meetings you will hold, follow-up indicators, etc.)
