Assignment Description:

From the list of well-known picture book authors posted in the Lesson 2 folder on Blackboard (document titled, “Well-Known Authors”), choose two authors who write for an age group of your choice. For each author, write one well-developed paragraph (8-10 sentences, double-spaced, 12 point font) that includes the following information in complete sentences:

The author’s biographical information (i.e. date of birth, place of residence, date of first published work, etc.)

A list of the author’s published works

A description of the types of books the author writes (i.e. ABC, picture, concept, etc.) and any notable features (i.e. black and white, cartoon pictures; full-page, colourful drawings; specific, well-known characters; humour, etc.)

An explanation of why you think this author’s books are effective with the age group under consideration.

Organization:

Each paragraph should contain a clear topic sentence, well-developed supporting points with appropriate transitions, and a concluding sentence that summarizes the paragraph. Please see the PowerPoint titled “Effective Paragraphs” for more information.
