CREATING A MUSEUM EXHIBIT
Create a Google Slides presentation that showcases the cultural significance of an object.
Minimum 10 slides, including the title slide (with your name) and a Works Cited slide (with your
sources). THIS MUST BE SHARED ON GOOGLE SLIDES. Please continue reading for
instructions on how to submit.
I have also uploaded a slideshow with tips on how to make your presentation….well…presentable.
Make sure to take a look! I can’t tell you how many college students (and professors) I saw that
made terrible visual aids. Follow these steps and your presentations will at least look nice!
What I’m Looking For:
● Content. Make sure to answer the prompt. Read the suggestions above for ideas.
● Length. 10 slides, including 1 title slide and 1 works cited slide.
● Use of standard English conventions.
○ Capitalization of proper nouns and the beginning of sentences
○ Punctuation at the end of your sentences
○ Spelling (make use of spell check or look it up if you don’t know!)
● Make sure to cite your information! Put anything you copy directly in quotes and include a
works cited page at the end. MLA format. Plagiarism will result in a 0.
GETTING STARTED
Things to consider:
● Choose an object that will be easy to research. Phones, cars, air conditioning, glasses, etc.
Think of something that has changed society that you will be able to find information on.
● How did it start? I think this assignment makes the most sense as a history of the object. Have a
slide for the person who created it, a few slides showing how it has evolved over time, and a slide
defining why this object is important.
● Keep it concise. Pretend you are presenting this. The visual aid is just that. Most of the
information would come from your paper – your speech. The slideshow is simply to support and
emphasize important points.
● Keep it relevant. Choose images that make sense and support the information on the slide.
● Keep it simple. Stick with one or two fonts and choose colors that compliment your images and
your topic. Include 1 picture per slide, unless the slide does not have text and you want to include 2
larger images.
This assignment must be submitted via Google Slides. If you need help learning how to use Google
Slides, please contact your English teacher or your mentor.

● Top left: Start a New Presentation (Choose Blank)
● Top left: Click where it says “Untitled presentation” to change the name. Please start the
title with your last name and then the name of the assignment.

● The + sign on the top left will allow you to add slides.
● Include a title and your name on the first slide.
● When you are finished, click “share” in the top right and enter your English teacher’s email.
● To download your essay, go to File -> Download As -> PDF Document. This will save it to
your chromebook so you can upload the file to Edgenuity.
