Primary Education – Learning theories, differentiation and diversity – Supporting the learning of diverse groups of students.

Assessment:
The aim of this assessment is to demonstrate your understanding of different theoretical approaches or perspectives on learning, the strategies linked to these perspectives, and how these support the learning of diverse groups of students. All in the third person.
Case Study One: 1000 words
Your primary school is exploring taking a cognitive perspective and using collaborative learning to improve the basic reading skills of the students who are from culturally diverse backgrounds/children with different levels of skills and abilities.
Case Study Two: 1000 wordsYour primary school is exploring taking a Humanist approach to develop a sense of competence in the culturally diverse group of students/children with different levels ofskills and abilities in the school.
For each case study:1. Briefly outline the key principles associated with the relevant theoretical perspective; and note theextent to which they relate to a theory.2. Provide a detailed example of a teaching strategy aligned with the relevant theoretical perspectivethat is appropriate for the level of schooling chosen i.e. in your classroom.3. Explain how this strategy supports the learning needs of diverse groups of learners with referenceto at least two types of diversity for each case study (Total of 4 for both case studies).4. In selecting Culturally Diverse/Different Skills or abilities (Total 4 required)  –  A combination of any is acceptable as long as they are all different. E.g 1. ATSI, Maori, Vietnamese, CALD; Eg. 2, Down Syndrome, ADHD, ASD & Cerebral Palsy; Eg 3 CALD, ATSI and CP, ADHD etc).5. Only 1 strategy is required to be used in the Case study .e.g Case study 1 Direct Instruction for CALD and ATSI etc;6. Select your Year of Study – this is your choice. When you identify the year of study you can also have 4 different Years of study for all the case studies. Example 1 – Case Study 1 – Year 2 for ATSI & Year 6 for ADHD; Example 2 – Case Study 4 – Year 3 for CALD and Year 5 for ASD
