Plan of Care For a Patient Receiving Endocrine System Medications

In this assignment, you will develop a plan of care for a newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes 52-year-old female patient. Review the nursing implications for the safe administration of oral antidiabetic agents, antilipidemic and antihypertensive medications. Refer to textbook readings as well as additional current medication and nursing resources regarding endocrine medications. Develop a plan of care including one nursing diagnosis, three goals (two short term and one long term), interventions, and evaluation criteria.  

  • 52-year-old female patient newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. 
     
  •  Medications should include metformin (Glucophage), atorvastatin (Lipitor), and losartan (Cozaar).
  •  Include three key patient education points per medication focusing on who you will be teaching. Be sure to provide the patient with the rationale for the new medications.

Create a two page plan of care paper using current APA formatting. Your paper should include a title page, reference page, and headings which is not part of the page/word count.  Title page must include title of paper, your name, school, course, faculty name/title and date. References must be current (five years and less to date) and credible. A minimum of two scholarly sources required.
