Write a 6-page paper on Invisible man using one of the following prompts and a secondary source to help support your arguments. 
Analyze images of eyes and vision and/or veiling in the novel. How does vision grant power, and how do others control vision, metaphorically or literally?  
Examines scenes of public speaking in Invisible Man. How does the narrator’s relationship with the public change over the course of the novel? Why does he decide to become invisible? How does he negotiate the line between public and private? How does his understanding of race depend upon public understanding?  
Discuss the nature of cultural inheritance, birthright, and the “mess of pottage” in Invisible Man. How does the narrator define or relate to his birthright over the course of the novel? How does he relate to the Jacob and Esau story from which he draws the final line of the novel?
