Public Health Topic Assignment 4:  Historical perspective for your Healthy people topic

In an essay consisting of a minimum of one and half  full  pages with 1.5 line spacing  , not including reference page), and minimum of 5 references .

What is the historical perspective of the disease you are investigating

  1. How long has it been identified or described? ( for example TB was described in ancient Egyptian manuscripts) , if an emerging disease when was the year is was first described?
  2. What are the secular (long term, changes over years) trends for the disease? Do  these trends vary based on  in different populations ( for example lung cancer trends in women and men differ based on smoking trends) What can explain  any secular trends?
  3. How have the determinants or risk factors of the disease changed over time? For example, the risk of becoming infected with HIV by blood transfusions has decreased with the advent of screening blood donations for HIV antibodies
  4. How have prevention and control measures  changed  over  time? For example the use of PReP and PEP t reduce risk of  HIV. Include  how education has changed . Look for older version of posters or Public service announcements from the past and compare them to those of today. See examples below
