Select a social work-related issue that is important and significant to you, and requires a change in the law. Research the issue to find current state and federal law (local law if appropriate). Talk on the phone with your U.S. Congressman, Pennsylvania Senator, or Pennsylvania State Representative, County or local elected official (if impression ask their assigned staff member. Ask questions to find their position on the current law.  Describe your proposed changes and ask their opinion.  Determine if change is possible and steps you will take for change or articulate reasons change is not possible and how you feel about that.

Prepare 2 page paper:

1. 1. The issue you are concerned with and your research on it
   2. Who you contacted, why you selected them, how you went about contacting them, the difficulty or ease of this process
   3. Your proposed change
   4. Describe your conversation with the elected official or their staff
   5. Conclusion: what is possible or not possible? YOUR next steps?
