This is a very quick one-page essay that answers the following question. It needs four examples total, but not “Soure” that is why I selected any amount of sources it is due tomorrow morning.

This course has focused largely on how our Criminal Justice system

attempts to balance the rights of the individual against the protection of the community. By “system,” I mean the Police, the Courts, and the Prisons. Sometimes the system seems to lean too far in the direction of protecting the individual’s rights; other times it seems to lean too far in the direction of protecting the community at the expense of the individual’s rights.

(a) Take a few minutes and reflect on instances in which you feel that the system has gone too far to protect the individual’s rights, instances in which you would have been inclined to lean in the direction of protecting the community. Try to come up with at least two (2) examples.

(b) Then, look at it from the other side: instances in which you feel that the individual’s rights have been unjustly ignored to provide some (perhaps unnecessary?) measure of protection to the community. Again, try to come up with at least two (2) examples.
