INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESEARCH PROJECT
please provide outline and create 22 power point slides along with the 5 page report
This research project will consist of you picking a topic in the broad field of Profiling Serial Killers (see other sheet in this folder for topic ideas). This topic can include team killers, single killers, profilers, forensics, and even an organization. You will research your topic, significantly narrowing the topic, and complete a minimum 5-page paper detailing your results. You will also have to create a minimum of 22+ PowerPoint slide show summarizing your paper. Included in the 22 slides is the “cover” slide and citations page. You can place a short film clip, no more than 10 minutes, in your presentation if you desire (it is not mandatory).
Details of Paper:
- 5+ pages of detailed research and findings on your chosen topic. 5 complete pages is required, not 4 1/2, or 4, or less. If you would like to write more than 5 complete pages, this is fine and encouraged.
- 12 Point Font (ARIAL)
- 1 Inch Margins
- Double Spaced
- Spell Check entire project including slides
- Justified Aligned Margins
APA Style of Citation (the HCCC Library has information on this). If you do not cite APA style, 20 points will automatically be deducted from your score. What this means is that if I read the paper and you have improperly cited, you will begin with an 80 rather than 100. There is also information on APA style of citation in the Project folder on GO/Blackboard. Cite Your Sources | Library | Herkimer College
- NO WIKI OR OTHER SUCH SIMILAR WEBSITES ARE TO BE CITED. Websites such as these are not reliable with the information they provide. If receive any cited information from wiki or other such similar sites, your grade will immediately be reduced by 10 points.
- You will be required to cite at the minimum 7 different sources, only 2 of which can come from the internet. What the last part means about internet sources, is that you can only use 2 different specific websites from the Internet. However, if you use the Library and use the database and come up with an article from your search, this is not considered by me as coming from the Internet. Also, if you get any books, papers, newspapers, etc. off of the internet, this is, for me, not an Internet source. If you have any questions about this, please let me know and I will help you.
