Innovations and how they fix a problem

For this report I am to either come up or use an existing innovation and identify what problem a industry faces and how the innovation will solve that problem. A few innovations that i had planned on using were between blockchain and how it can be used in the supply chain industry or digitilization in the restaurant industry such as e-menu and e-payments.

Below is the rubric provided by the professor.

Project Report Description

First, this project is your opportunity to demonstrate and showcase your understanding of innovations in hospitality.  What does this mean?  Make sure that

  • Your project report includes discussion of class concepts, ideas, and applications.
  • Your project should clearly explain the link between class concepts and your suggested innovation.

Second, your report should be about an innovation for application in the hospitality industry (any segment of the industry that you are most interested in – for example, cruise line operations, lodging, F&B, airline catering, events, and so on).

Third, the report should be structured as follows:

Problem statement: What is the gap?  Why is the gap a problem? How did you identify the gap?  (Must include class concept/s you used to identify the gap.)

Your solution:    Description of the solution and how it works (that is, how is the solution an innovation?).  Support this with an analysis of its advantages and disadvantages.  Describe how the innovation affects technology and employees, what financial benefits do you expect, and what practical benefits will the organization derive.

Please use the following rubric to guide your project.
