Make sure all body paragraphs:

o Clearly connect back to thesis

o Have a self-contained theme/purpose, clearly introduced at the start with an effective topic sentence

o Are highly detailed, with facts, stats, etc. to prove your points. PROVE your points as much as possible

· Avoid using first person when making arguments, or ‘you,’ ‘we,’ etc. Keep everything in the third person.

· Use active voice as much as possible (start sentences with thing doing the action)

· Watch for awkward phrases (e.g. / run-on sentences, comma splices)
