APA Divisions

APA DivisionsFinal Paper Guidelines

(50 points)

The final paper will be a more substantive paper comprising research on the historical background of one of the 54 APADivisions. This paper should be five (5)typed pages in APA style, 7th ed. The title page and references page are separate and not included in the page requirement. You will need to find 4-6 research sources (peer review articles or books) for this paper.

All papers will be submitted through Canvas using the Turnitin software.  You can use the software to see the similarities between your writing and the sources you have chosen to use.  If you give yourself the time, Turnitin can be used as a learning resource. You will be permitted a maximum of a 15% similarity rating, with one grade penalty deducted for each additional 10% similarity rating.

To get started on this project begin with the year the APA was founded and by whom.  The next question to answer would be the reason it was formed, and what its structure was. Then you can begin to write about the specifics, such as the changes that occurred in the United States for the emergence of Psychology. Include how progressive politics and WWII influenced the history and development of the APA.

As you go through the history of the APA you will reach the Division that you are interested in. You will follow the same procedure you did for the development of the APA.  Here you should include 2-3 seminal research studies that led to the development of the specific division.  Make sureto include dates and the names of people responsible for that division’s development.

Finally, include where the APA Division is today.  What purpose does it serve for undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, researchers and clinicians (if applicable)?  How is the Division supported?Where does the fundingcome from? (CDC, NIH, NIMH, WHO, private, etc.).

**Note:I will strictly adhere to reading five (5) pages only!

Please edit your writing and use words that express your thoughts        precisely.
