The goal for this assignment is to complete an extensive revision to either Literary
Analysis Essay #1 or Literary Analysis Essay #2. The revision essay will add a
minimum of 2-3 pages (approximately 750 words) to the previous essay.Thepurpose of the revision essay is to continue to develop your argument (thesis
statement). Make sure to add more support from the research you have been
doing. Be sure that any support that you add actually strengthens the point you are
trying to make and is integrated coherently throughout the essay.
You will continue researching biographical, psychological, historical, and
sociological strategies and approaches to enhance your understanding of the
short story. Make sure to consult the Critical Strategies Research Questions and
More Critical Strategies Research Questions in the modules. You will consult and
include 2-3 new secondary sources which must be scholarly/peer reviewed.
As you revise, you should devote most of your time researching and enhancing your
essay’s clarity, structure, and argument (e.g., thesis statement and supporting
evidence and details). Spend some time on grammar and mechanics as well;
however, the main purpose of the revision essay is to expand and develop your
argument fully. Incorporation of evidence will be documented through MLA-style in-
text citations and a works-cited page.

Remember to keep in mind that the scholarly research and angle/strategy/approach
you are taking in the revision essay enhances your understanding and theme of the
short story. The added research and revised writing will continue to develop a
thoughtful, critical, and persuasive essay about the meaning and power of the literary
text.
