Proposal Argument

Write an essay in which you argue a claim from an issue. In this 5-6 page essay, you will 1) provide at least three reasons to support a proposal (established as your claim/thesis); 2) provide evidence to support each reason; 3) identify conditions for rebuttal that question your reasons and/or evidence and either concede to or refute them; 4) identify the opposition’s views explicitly, providing at least TWO counterarguments; 5) give background information your readers need to understand the problem or issue; and 6) properly incorporate and document credible source material. When including information from research, don’t forget to use signal phrases and parenthetical documentation. Your paper must be accompanied by a Works Cited page. Remember that you must use a minimum of five (5) credible sources and that you are limited to no more than two (2) “web-only” sources—that is, information found only on the internet (most articles found in SCC’s databases are not web-only sources). It is not required, but I encourage you to conduct an interview as one of your five sources of evidence.
