You will write 1 position paper on an assigned topic. This paper should be between 4-5 pages in length, 12pt Times Roman Font, typed, and double spaced. You must use at least 3 academic sources one of which must be from an academic journal. All sources should be referenced in APA style with in-text citations (APA style) and a bibliography (works cited in APA style) in your paper. Academic sources refer to the sources from our library’s databases, major newspapers such as The New York Times and Washington Post. Using sources from the internet without your professor’s or a brookdale librarian’s approval will not be accepted and will result in a lower  or an “F” grade for the assignment. Engaging in cheating and plagiarism will result in an “F’ grade. Cheating is copying the word and ideas from a source as your own and plagiarism is taking the words or ideas from a source without crediting the source. Use the sources you find to identify 3 or 4 of the strongest arguments to support your position. Paper should include: Introduction, paragraph for each of your arguments, paragraph with 1 or 2 of the strongests points refuting the opposing position with your rebuttal, conclusion, at least 3 academic sources, in-text citations in APA style, bibliography (works cited) in APA style. In your works cited, you must include: author’s name, year of publication, title of article or book, name of journal, magazine or newspaper, volume and issue, page #, DOI (Digital Object Identifier). Sources must be full-text, no reviews, abstracts, videos, or blogs. Be cautious with sources that do not have author. Use sources published during the past 10 years. Must obtain sources from databases. Points will be taken for having more than 2 quotes throughout the paper. On work-cited page, do not forget to indent the second and subsequent lines. For the controversial issues paper, student will be required to choose a position and express their informed opinion concerning issue, all opinion bawsed statements must be followed by supporting evidence from assigned textbook ( Lifespan Development: A Topical Approach) along with 1 additional resource (primary empirical journal article taken from the American Psychological Associations’ (APA), PsycArticlesdatabase http://ux.brookdalecc.edu/library/databases/bysubject-socialsciences.php).
