You will select 1 journal article on an applied linguistics topic of interest to you from an approved list provided to you by your professor. Explain your process for selecting these 2 articles and clearly articulate how they are relevant to the debate being explored in the first article and the question you identified 4. Explore the answer to your question in the genre of academic audience. 5. Write a reflection for this genre of academic audience that lay out how your communicative choices seek to accommodate your audience, goals, and purposes. Academic Synthesis Paper You will write a synthesis paper that includes the following: • Situates the 3 articles within existing debates in applied linguistics and the question that you identified as of particular interest to you • Lays out cross-cutting themes across the 3 articles that help to answer the question that you identified • Identifies any points of tension or disagreement between the 3 articles and questions they raise that require further investigation The synthesis should be approximately 750 words (no more than 1000 words). Don’t forget about the reflection in the end. (Approximately 150 words)
