Americanicity

each student will develop an argument on “Americanicity” perspectives expressed in ANY TEXT SINCE THE MIDTERM. Writers will be required to integrate the ideas from Fredrickson’s “Models of American Ethnic Relations” and additional secondary sources.

 Introduction & Argument (1-2 paragraphs)

 Introduce the text under discussion (film or literature). Identify the author and core “Americanicity” themes the text describes or asks readers or viewers to think about. Then introduce the central characters and how illustrate aspects of racial and ethnic identity. Make sure to link these perspectives to concepts addressed in Fredrickson’s “Models” 

 Body (2-4 paragraphs) 

Get into sections of the literature or scenes from the film. Quote the literature or summarize visual elements in the film. Make sure to link your analysis of the fiction to your argument on how the work under discussion illuminates an “Americanicity” stance. 

 secondary Sources

Integrate 2 secondary sources into your discussion of the literature or film. Sources may appear in your introduction or body and/or conclusion. One must be Fredrickson’s “Models” and the must come from a peer-reviewed source from CC library.

Conclusion & Works Cited 

Explain why the fictional experience under discussion is important for readers or viewers. What do we learn from this ethnic perspective? What do the storytellers want audiences to think about?
