Gender-Based Anti-Harassment Assignment: WKU provides campus-based Title IX Anti-Harassment training and is committed to fostering a culture of respect in its educational and work environments free of gender-based harassment and sexual violence. In this class, students complete additional training using workplace training materials and write a reflection paper. Most workplaces fall under federal laws, but training can be patchy and often unhelpful. The video selected here is for New York City workplaces. It is not very flashy or exciting, and it is not designed to be fun or funny, but it DOES teach you a great deal about gender and terms. It is straightforward and includes personalized scenarios to help you understand how people feel, even if you have never felt that way, and how workplace harassment can look, even if you’ve never seen it. Learning to understand another’s point of view is what training like this is all about. If we understand each other better, we can be more aware how our actions may be interpreted and avoid misunderstandings.
