Poetry Theme Essay

Instructions

Poetry Theme Essay 800 to 1,200 words APA format

For this comparison essay, pick 2-3 poems (not by the same poet) that share a theme and compare and contrast

their takes on that theme. At least one of the poems must be a poem we read in class, but for the other 1-2 poems you can take them from anywhere. Reminder that https://poets.org/poems Links to an external site.and https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/browse Links to an external site.are great resources for finding poems by theme.

You can search for themes/topics like “love” “grief” “parenting” and more on those sites. For example, you might

pick the theme “love” and compare one of Shakespeare’s love poems, Dereck Walcott’s poem about finding

self-love after losing a romantic partner (“Love After Love”), and Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Raven” about a

man’s grief after losing his love. But feel free to pick any theme and grouping of poems you’d like. The goal is to put different works of art in conversation with each other and see what similarities and differences they have.

Therefore, you should pick works that have different things to say about the same subject.

Please mention at least 2 of the poetic terms  such as metaphors, enjambment, alliteration, rhyme, etc. And please quote each poem at least once using APA in-text citations.    I have attached the file where atleast 1 poem must be chosen from.
