(i) Personal pronouns are not appropriate (i.e., no “I”, “you”, “us”, “we”, etc.). 

(ii) Quotations should be used sparingly and, when used, should illustrate/highlight a key point or concept. Quotations should be pinpointed to a specific paragraph of the judgment using endnotes (not footnotes). 

 (iii) All technical terms (jargon) should be clearly defined, though students should assume the reader has some experience in the legalese of the cases/rules cited.

After the first endnote, all other endnotes can be written as “Ibid. at para. ###”, with the number/hashtag/pound sign being replaced with the paragraph being pinpointed to the content in the paper itself.
