“Working” Works Cited Assignment

First, consult the handbook in the back of your textbook or this website on how to cite correctly and how to create a properly formatted Works Cited Page. Points will be deducted if it is not formatted correctly. https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_style_introduction.html Example Works Cited Page: Sample Works Cited.pdf Second, find sources using the following websites. http://guides.uu.edu/databases (Links to an external site.) This is UU’s online database. I suggest using Academic Search Complete (the second database listed) as it has the most thorough collection. http://tntel.tnsos.org (Links to an external site.) This is the Tennessee Electronic Library. The database search is on the top right. You will need to enter your city and zip code for access. Please use these sources to conduct your research. Again, websites such as Wikipedia or any website with a .com address is not peer reviewed and therefore not accurate and Cannot be used. You may use websites that are .gov or .edu. However, I don’t think you will find the information that you need on these websites. Thus, the databases are your best hope. Start your searches with a very broad context, perhaps just the title of the text that you are analyzing. Once you find sources discussing this text then you can pick them apart for which parts might help you in your analysis. (See my notes on the research paper process on the Research Paper PDF). You may also need to be a bit creative in what you search for. Try searching for the information about the author or the literary term that you will be using to analyze. For example, if you are discussing symbolism in “A Rose for Emily”, you might search for “flowers as symbols” or even just “symbolism” to find some basic information on how authors use symbolism that you could then relate to your analysis. If you are completely new to conducting academic research for a research paper, you might want to go to the UU campus library (if you live in Jackson) or just your local library (if you do not live in Jackson). There are people there who can help you with conducting research. Once you have your correctly formatted Working Works Cited Page, please upload it to this assignment. You must have at least 4 sources; one of which is your textbook. A note regarding the use of your textbook as a source: You may want to quote both Michael Meyer (the editor) regarding the definitions of the literary terms that you will be using in your analysis and the author of the text that you are analyzing. This required two different Work Cited entries as one refers to the text as a whole and the other refers to a selection within the text. See your textbook or the website above for how to do these different works cited entries. However, if you use both, this cannot count as 2 of your 4 required sources. It is still only 1 source; it is just cited separately!
