We learn from and with each other in almost every learning process, but that is especially true of the writing process. Everyone is probably at a different level, and some of us are very hesitant to enter into Collaborative arenas. However, we can always learn from each other, and the only tool necessary is to genuinely care about yours and others’ journeys in the writing process. Put your feet in another’s shoes and share what you know. Everybody knows something or you would not have gotten this far, so share the knowledge, and the questions etc. We are all on a journey to life-long learning!
Thesis discussions – Offer feedback to two examples of your preliminary and possible theses. Which example do you find is most effective and why; which is least effective and why.
Initial Post: What is your intended Topic and what are two possible working theses that you are considering per the Readings this week on the Argumentative Essay. Clearly write your two possibilities and include the following comments for each:
- Why did you choose this topic and what interests you about doing the research for this subject?
- Is this a sudden interest or some topic you have previously been thinking about from time to time?
- Is the topic related to your course of study at Rasmussen, or your career experiences?
- What areas would you like for your student respondent to look at closely in order to offer input or feedback?
- Have you ever encountered this idea before in a written work, your job, or life circumstances?
- Post a well-organized complete paragraph or two for this Initial Post.
Reply Post: Tell your peer why you chose this post to respond to and give input and feedback. The answer to maybe silly or different – ex. Because you read in the Student Forum this student is from your home town, etc. It’s okay to establish rapport with your classmate, but use standard formal English, please.
- What can you say about this chosen topic and the two possible working theses that will offer your peer some substantive input and feedback about his / her choice and post?
- Offer two comments that you feel could help this student move further in the research/writing process for his / her next step in the Course Project.
- In a friendly and supportive manner respond with at least a couple of remarks that you think might enhance this peer’s working thesis, and confidence in his / her process so far.
Note:
- Your posts should always be in complete sentences. Be sure to post clear and coherent observations backed up by your lesson content & readings.
