Part 1) 

 Reflect on “the I, the Self, and the Me” reading from George Mead and compare it to the “Stranger” by Simmel. How are these forms of ourselves developed distinctly? How is being a “Stranger” impact the socialization process that influenced our development of “the I” and “the Self”? Share an example of how you entered a new social setting in an already established social group (moved, new school, etc) where you assumed this role of the “Stranger” and how this may have impacted “the Self”.

Part 2)

 Apply Cooley’s concept of the Looking-Glass Self on people’s social media usage. How our the interactions of people driven by their perceptions of how they are seen by others? As a way to apply this theory, how does this connect with the management of the self on social media and what consequences may result from this? Share your thoughts on the video below:
