(Part A) Humans use plants and plant products in a variety of ways. Discuss the various ways you have used or depend on plants or plant products. For ALL 3 CATEGORIES below, list a plant/plant product you used, Food Shelter Clothing Then tell the class which of the 4 groups of plants your choice falls into (Bryophytes or seedless vascular or gymnosperm, or angiosperm), Finally tell the class at least two characteristics that are unique to that group of plants. (This discussion is to help you learn the characteristics of the 4 major classifications of plants: bryophytes, seedless vascular, gymnosperm and angiosperm-Please just give characteristics of these 4 groups and not detailed characteristics of a species) (Part B) Humans consume various parts of plants—roots, stems, leaves, flowers, seeds, and fruits. Interestingly, there is no part of a plant known as the “vegetable”—though that term can be used to designate a part of the plant that is nonreproductive in nature. Take a photo of two plant food items in your home or in the produce aisle of your local store. Using the following list of plant parts (Root, Stem, Leaf, Flower, Seed, and Fruit) classify the food product and describe why you chose that classification and not the others.
