Nurses must use ethical principles and decision-making process to enable empowerment, and they must value development. The empowerment model of care is patient centered, information giving, negotiate behavior, adherence, servant, understanding and acceptance, and that patients must save themselves. The basis of this is the assumption that to be health, people must be able to bring about changes not only in their personal behavior, but also in their social situations and the institutions that influence their lives.
