Building from the knowledge during this course but also your own experience and considering the wider impacts of innovation, you are asked to write a reflective essay considering the following questions:
- What role does innovation play in moving towards a sustainable society?
- What are the potential downsides/limitations of innovation in the context of sustainability?
- Do those downsides mean it’s ‘game over’ for innovation?
The objective of this short reflective essay is for you to reflect on and critically assess innovation for sustainability.
Develop your ideas through reasoning and examples to support your arguments.
When assessing your reflective essay, we will be expecting more than a superficial critique. We will be seeking evidence of deeper reflection. This means moving beyond just description.
Evaluation
The paper will be graded on the following aspects:
- Understanding the role and limits of innovation for sustainability
- Quality of the argumentation and reasoning
- Use of relevant examples
- Structure and fluency of the text and referencing: clear structure, logical flow, concise language, good grammar, and proper referencing.
